The Django Girls Bhavnagar workshop was an amazing event brought to life through the combined efforts of all the wonderful coaches. I’m deeply thankful to the entire team, as well as the Django Girls organization, for conducting such an inspiring and well organized workshop.
For those who may not know, Django Girls is a non-profit organization and global community dedicated to empowering women to learn programming. They help women all over the world organize free, one-day workshops by providing the tools, resources, and support needed to make coding more accessible and less intimidating.
This particular workshop was held on 18th March 2018 at the Sky Blue Institute in Bhavnagar. One of the reasons I loved the workshop so much was the venue itself had great vibes, a friendly atmosphere, and, of course, amazing food. Yes, the lunch was so delicious that we just couldn’t get enough of it! :P
The entire event was thoughtfully planned and executed. All the coaches were approachable, patient, and always ready to help, we felt comfortable asking even the smallest of our doubts. My group members weren’t very familiar with Python at the time, so our coach began by teaching us the basics. From there, following the official workshop PDF, we progressed step-by-step, eventually creating a repository on GitHub and uploading our first project. That moment, seeing our work online was incredibly rewarding!
From 8 in the morning until 5 in the evening, we worked almost non-stop, taking only a short break for lunch. Yet, by the end of the day, instead of feeling tired, we wished the workshop could go on longer. The hands-on learning, the supportive environment, and the energy of the team made the day fly by.
I’m truly grateful to have been part of this wonderful event. It wasn’t just about learning Django, it was about gaining confidence, building connections, and being reminded of how empowering technology can be when shared with the right people in the right spirit.
